Most items in our food storage systems are either freeze dried or dehydrated. These processes are ideal for long term food storage.
FREEZE DRIED FOODS
Freeze Dried food products make up the majority of items used in our AlpineAireŽ Gourmet Reserve systems. Freeze drying requires a rapid freezing of the food item. The water content, now frozen is turned into a gas and withdrawn from the food. This avoids shrinkage.

DEHYDRATION
Dehydration is the best way to preserve certain food products, especially vegetables, such as onions, peppers, tomatoes, celery, carrots and mushrooms.
The process of dehydrating food includes placing the items on a conveyor belt and passing them through an oven at high temperature for a relatively short time. During dehydration between 90% - 95% of the moisture is removed.
REHYDRATION
Almost all items in the AlpineAireŽ Gourmet Reserve Systems require rehydration. Rehydration requires that you add water to the freeze dried or dehydrated item and wait a couple of minutes til the food saturates all the water or rehydrates. It is a simple and quick method to prepare most food storage items.
SHELF LIFE
All items in the AlpineAireŽ Gourmet Reserve Systems have a shelf life of between 5 and 10 years. We use state of the art canning and oxygen absorbing processes to insure long shelf life.
Most AlpineAireŽ Gourmet Reserve food has a 5 to 10 year shelf life. Shelf life could be longer depending on your storage environment.
STORAGE
All AlpineAireŽ Gourmet Reserve Systems foods are sealed in double enameled, heavy gauge metal cans which are nitrogen flushed which removes the oxygen and replaces it with a safe FDA approved nitrogen, and/or have an oxygen absorber package. It is best to store all items in a dry environment on shelves, which AlpineAireŽ provides FREE. Avoid high heat to ensure a longer shelf life.
