Food Bars Vs Canned Goods

The Food bars make a sound investment with its long term shelf-life. Stretch your dollar to 5 years. In general, canned goods only have a shelf-life of two years. Compared to the aluminum foil of the food bars, canned goods are disadvantaged by their heavy packaging. The aluminum foil does not require tools to open. The food bars can safely remain inside the foil and resealed. A tax advantage may also be applicable if food bars are donated to Charity organizations before the stamped expiration date.

Each 16 ounce food ration is easily portioned to six 400 calorie servings. Recommended consumption for land based environments is three servings per person per day equal to 1,200 calories. For marine based environments, the recommended consumption is two servings per person per day equal to 800 calories. Each 2400 calorie food bar is individually wrapped in heavy aluminum foil to protect against water or insects.
